We conducted baseline waste audit at Government College of Sikkim, Tadong during April/May 2018 to review the progress of the ongoing zero waste project started on 2016.
A total of 144 kgs per day of waste is generated at Sikkim Government College Tadong, out of which 41% was wet waste, 37% was rejects and 22% dry waste. The alarmingly high level of rejects was due to residents mixing the waste streams. The environmental impact of this practice is equivalent to burning 16 tons of coal per year.
